Peter is a retired commercial solicitor with experience in both business and local government. He joined the club in 2008 and served previously as Events Secretary organising several events. His interests are walking gardening, fresh air, music and general/vintage motoring.


Dr. Chris Bevan.


Chris graduated in the sixties in Applied Chemistry specialising in nuclear and radiochemistry.  This was followed by being awarded a doctorate in nuclear analytical chemistry for chemical oceanographic investigations carried out with the MoD & MAFF at The Royal Naval College Greenwich. 


He started his working career in the Pharmaceutical R&D industry as environmental and radiological protection officer for Hoechst and then moved into developing novel analytical methods for drug discovery with Hoechst and later at Glaxo.


He has been a long time member and President of the Chromatographic Society, a scientific charity focussed on promoting separation science. 


After retiring from head of Physical Chemistry at GlaxoSmithKline he continues to organise scientific conferences and symposia as the Society’s Events Coordinator.


Chris’ main interests include photography, astronomy, classical music, and electric and acoustical guitars.


He also enjoys keeping up to date with many diverse technical and scientific subjects.

 Andy is a retired Submarine Cable Systems Engineer. He has worked in 82 countries throughout the world as a Principal Engineer. His hobbies are Paragliding and Motor Caravaning.

Tom enjoyed his working life primarily with multinationals where he dabbled in business finance, project and product management. After early release for good behaviour he acted as a volunteer Business Advisor for the Berks and Bucks Enterprise Agency and also in a similar position with the Princes Trust. He now strives to improve both his golf and bridge, and is member of Beaconsfield 41Club. 

By distant training a Chartered Accountant but after a career in international business mainly as finance director became Chairman of Loss Reviews at Lloyd’s and then was asked to take on a judicial position as a member of the Criminal Cases Review Commission dealing with alleged or suspected miscarriages of justice. After that I was for 5 years a non-executive director of a health trust I am now on a Home Office Commission.

Ian has always enjoyed messing around with water. This passion started as a small boy damming streams and continued to working at Thameswater where he mapped, inspected and planned the underground waste network. He qualified as a member of the Institute of Public Health Engineers which merged to become the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management. He spent a lot of time reprting regulatory technical matters at Thames and ended his career reporting regulatory outputs. Hobbies include travel and bridge and has been on Chepping Wycombe Parish Council in a variety of roles since 1995.

Retired in 2015 after 40+ years in Financial Services, in various roles 
including Compliance and training Financial Advisers. Originally from 
Sheffield, a keen sportsman, especially football and cricket. Other 
hobbies include gardening and listening to rock music, usually at the 
same time. Also enjoys reading, dog walking. 

 

Qualifications: Chartered Chemist ,FRSC Patent Attorney (retired).I have been a member of Probus for over 3 years during which time I have attended most of the meetings and outings.I am at present responsible for providing the supplies for the coffees etc before the meetings.My interests are crosswords, listening to classical music and eating out.
